Piercing FAQs

Do you offer private appointments if none of the dates/times work for me?

Don't see a time that works for you, text us at 713.213.5008 and we can work to coordinate a private appointment. A $25 booking fee applies.

How quickly can I change my earrings after piercing?

You can change your earrings 6 weeks after a ear lobe piercing and 1 year for the cartilage.

When can I swim after piercing?

We recommend waiting at least 5 days before swimming. The reason for this waiting period is to give the piercing enough time to heal and close up slightly, creating a barrier against potential contaminants found in water sources. Swimming in pools and other bodies of water can expose the healing piercing to bacteria and other microorganisms, increasing the risk of infection.

Do you numb my ears?

For kid piercings, we use numbing cream. Numbing cream contains local anesthetics that can temporarily numb the skin's surface, making the piercing process less painful for children. Before the piercing, our nurse applies the numbing cream to the earlobe, allowing sufficient time for it to take effect. It's important to note that while numbing cream can reduce pain, it may not completely eliminate all sensations during the piercing.

For adults, our nurse will inject lidocaine into the lobe. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that can provide a more profound numbing effect, making the piercing process more comfortable.

For kids, do you use a piercing gun?

No, a piercing gun is spring loaded and "shoots" the earring through the ear tissue without precision and is often more painful. Our device is hand pressured, and it allows for a gentle and precise piercing without damaging the ear tissue.

How much are piercings?

Children’s piercings are $150 and include either a 14K Gold Pearl stud or 14K Gold CZ stud. Adult piercings are $80 for a single piercing and $100 for double, plus the price of the selected pair of LeMel earrings we use for the piercing. The earrings that we offer for adult piercings are all 14k gold and start at $110 for a single and $185 for the pair. We only pierce with LeMel earrings purchased on the day of the piercing. Our booking fee covers the cost of the piercing, not the jewelry. Earrings must be purchased separately on the day of.

What piercings can I choose from?

Adults can choose from any earrings in our stud collection. Huggie earrings are not suitable for the initial piercing process due to their design, which may not allow enough space for potential swelling that can occur during the healing process. It's essential to use stud earrings specifically designed for newly pierced ears to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of complications. Once the piercing has fully healed, you can switch to wearing huggie earrings if you’d like.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes. All piercings must have a scheduled appointment or be during a publicized piercing event. You can book a piercing appointment here.

Can I bring my own earrings?

Earrings must be purchased at LeMel at the time of the piercing. This policy is in place for several reasons, including safety, hygiene, and ensuring that appropriate earrings are used during the piercing process.

How do I book a piercing appointment?

Our events page is consistently kept current with the latest information about upcoming piercing parties. If the scheduled events don't fit your availability, please reach out to us through direct messaging or text at 713-213-5008, and we can arrange a private appointment at your convenience!

Can I get pierced if I’m pregnant or nursing?

Piercing services are not available for women who are pregnant. If you are currently nursing, prior to scheduling an appointment, consult your doctor.

How do I take care of my piercing?

Clean your piercing twice daily with saline solution. Cleanse with a mild soap, such as Cetaphil, when showering. You can change your earrings after 6 weeks.

Help, my ear is infected!

While we pierce as safely as possible each body heals differently, and sometimes that healing process doesn't go as expected. Unless otherwise directed by your primary care provider, it is best to leave the earring in place in case of infection, this helps keep the channel open to allow fluids to drain naturally. There are always exceptions to this, such as in the case of an embedded earring or an allergic reaction. Please contact your healthcare provider in the case of embedment or allergic reaction.

How old do I have to be to get pierced?

We pierce all ages. We can pierce babies as soon as they have their first round of vaccines. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to get pierced.
